Let It Go - James Bay - chords lyrics
If you're looking for the song from the movie "Frozen" - this isn't it, but take some time to check out the song anyway since you're here :-)
I first heard James Bay singing his song, "Hold Back The River" in our supermarket. Well, not him personally entertaining the shoppers - it was over the instore speakers.
Thought to myself, "Hmmm, this sounds like a good song for trying out on guitar". I'm still mastering the quick chord changes on that one...
Then this week I heard "Let It Go" and decided it would be a Songbook addition. I can't do any fancy stuff on guitar but just by strumming down-strokes on the G-C-Em7-D bit - you can get it to sound half decent. Cover version to follow when I get time to record it...
Oh, and you'll need a Capo for this one - placed all the way down on the 6th fret if you want to play along to the original.
Let It Go - by James Bay
Capo on 6th
G-C-Em7-D twice
G C Em7 D
From walking home and talking loads
G C Em7 D
To seeing chirps in evening clothes with you
G C Em7 D
From nervous touch and getting drunk
G C Em7 D
To staying up and waking up with you
Em7
And now we're sleeping at the edge
D C
Holding something we don't need
Em7
Oh this delusion in our heads
D C
Is gonna bring us to our knees
C G
So come on let it go - o - o
Em7 D
Just let it be - e - e
C G
Why don't you be you - oo - oo
D
And I'll be me
C G
Everything's that bro - o - oke
Em7 D
Leave it to the bree - ee - eez
C G
Why don't you be you - oo - oo
D
And I'll be me
D
And I'll be me
G - C - Em7 - D twice
G C Em7 D
From throwing clothes across the floor
G C Em7 D
To teeth and clothes and slamming doors at you
G C Em7 D
If this is all we're living for
G C Em7 D
Why aren't we doin' it - doin' it - doin' it - anymore ?
Em7
I used to recognise myself
D C
It's funny how reflections change
Em7
When we're becoming something else
D C
I think it's time to walk away
C G
So come on let it go - o - o
Em7 D
Just let it be - e - e
C G
Why don't you be you - oo - oo
D
And I'll be me
C G
And everything's that bro - o - oke
Em7 D
Leave it to the bree - ee - eez
C G
Why don't you be you - oo - oo
D
And I'll be me
D G - C - Em7 - D twice
And I'll be me
Am Em7
Trying to fit your hand inside of mine
Em7
When we know it just don't belong
D
There's no force on earth
C
Could make me feel right - no - wo ooh oh
Am Em7
Trying to push this problem up the hill
Em7
When it's just too heavy to hold
D C
Think now is the time to let it slide
C G
So come on let it go - o - o
Em7 D
Just let it be - e - e
C G
Why don't you be you - oo - oo
D
And I'll be me
C G
And everything's that bro - o - oke
Em7 D
Leave it to the bree - ee - eez
C G
Let the ashes fa - a - ll
D
Forget about me
C G
So come on let it go - o - o
Em7 D
Just let it be - e - e
C G
Why don't you be you - oo - oo
D
And I'll be me
